NEDA2 conducted a one-day orientation on workplace disaster-preparedness and safety for all its employees and outsourced personnel on 13 October 2022 in its office in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The Resource Persons in this activity are from the Bureau of Fire Protection –Tuguegarao City Station.

The activity started with a lecture and hands-on application on basic first aid. Actual demonstrations on head stabilization, splinting, hemorrhage control tourniquet, and proper care of wounds, burns, fractured bones, and amputated body parts were conducted.

Basic fire prevention and control concepts and practices were also discussed. Participants were advised to always keep in mind the emergency hotlines of BFP so that help will come the soonest possible time.

The activity was capped with the conduct of earthquake drill and actual firefighting exercises, including simulation on rescue operations for victims. This practical application of all the concepts shared during the lectures completed the learning experience of all the participants.

The orientation is part of the agency’s response to the call for all public sector employees to be trained in emergency response and preparedness as mentioned under RA 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2001.
