The National Economic and Development Authority 02 join in the celebration of the National Nutrition Month, an annual event spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) as mandated by Section 7 of Presidential Decree 491 or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines.

This annual celebration is now on its 42nd year with the theme, “First 1000 Days ni Baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan.” The theme stressed the importance of the First 1000 Days of life, which has been called the “golden window of opportunity”. This year’s theme aims to:

a. Increase awareness on the importance of proper infant and young child feeding practices, particularly exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months and giving appropriate complementary food after six months while continuing breastfeeding.

b. Promote collaboration among various stakeholders both at the national and local levels for programs targeting families with pregnant mothers and children less than 2 years old.
