NEDA RO2 participated in the 1st Neighborhood Clean-Up Day in office premises within the Regional Government Center (RGC) on June 4. This was a day ahead of the World Environment Day which is celebrated on June 5 every year and in adherence to Proclamation no. 237, s. 1988 declaring the month of June as the Philippine Environment Month.
The simultaneous clean-up was spearheaded by the Environment Management Bureau (EMB RO2) in collaboration with the Solid Waste Management Program Technical Working Group of the Regional Government Center Management Committee (RGCMC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG RO2) and the City Government of Tuguegarao.
This year’s theme “Sama-samang Pagkilos, Sama-samang Paghilom (Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan) inspires government employees of the RGC locators to dispose trash, litter and other office wastes in their proper places in order to efficiently work at the same time enjoying a healthier environment.
This activity also served as the re-launching of the implementation of the Enhanced Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Program that was approved by the Regional Government Center Management Committee (RGCMC) in 2020. The ESWM program was initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 2 and was later turned over to the EMB this year.
