In support to the “Tuguegarao One Million Trees Movement” of the Local Government Unit of Tuguegarao City, NEDA Region 2 Regional Director Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. and staff participated in the bamboo planting activity in the early morning of July 23, 2021. The activity was in collaboration with CENRO Tuguegarao, headed by Mr. Marcelino Gumabay and Barangay Cataggaman Nuevo officials headed by Barangay Captain Gil G. Pagulayan.

A total of 120 bamboo propagules were planted. Capt. Pagulayan assured RD Ledres that the barangay will ensure the protection and maintenance of the newly established bamboo plants.
Participating in the “Tuguegarao One Million Trees Movement” are government agencies, universities, barangay local government units and other private organizations. The objective of the movement is to encourage Tuguegarao residents, environmental advocates, and Regional Line Agencies restore the city’s natural state through the planting and growing of one million bamboo and tree species within the next three years to counter the effects of climate change and prevent flooding.
