The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) released the 2022 men and women statistics of the Cagayan Valley Region during its Data Dissemination Forum held today, March 29, at the Crown Pavilion Hotel, Tuguegarao City.
Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, officer-in-charge of PSA Region 2 said that the Philippines maintained its position as the most gender equal in Asia based on the recent report from the World Economic Forum. The Philippines placed 2nd in the whole of Asia and the Pacific, second to New Zealand, and garnered the 19th spot among the 146 countries assessed in the worldwide report. He said that available gender data is an important instrument to address the issues of gender inequality in the region which provide for various gender statistics for policy-making and decision-making in all fields.
The population of Region 2 showed that there are 104 males for every 100 female. Across provinces and cities in Cagayan Valley, only the city of Tuguegarao have more females than males. Based from the data presented, more males were involved in micro enterprise development, and rice, corn, and high value crops production. Females dominated employment in the government at 57.7 percent on career positions, while the male dominated non-career positions.
The 2022 women and men in Cagayan Valley features gender statistics on various sectors namely: population and families, labor and employment, agriculture, education, vital health and family planning, social welfare and development, peace and human rights, migration, environment, public life, and violence against women and children.
Representatives of DOH, DSWD, and PNP also discussed some policy implications of sex-aggregated data and other gender statistics in health, social, and security and human rights sectors, respectively. #NEDA2 DRD
