The National Social Development Committee (NSDC) conducted the 2nd Semester 2023 Social Development Committee National–Regional Consultative Meeting (SDC-NRCM) here in Region 2 to harmonize the country’s social development priorities. The event was held on November 20-21, 2023 at the Pulsar Premier Suites, Buntun Highway, Tuguegarao City. This was presided over by NSDC Chair and NEDA Undersecretary Rosemarie G. Edillon.

Major agenda items discussed include the National Strategic Plan for Early Childhood Care and Development 2030, the social development chapters of the Philippine Development Report 2023, and the NEDA study on Urban Carrying Capacity Assessment. Regional concerns on health, nutrition, social protection and integration, labor and employment welfare, indigenous people’s rights and welfare, and disaster risk reduction and management were also tackled during the meeting.

The second day was devoted to project site visits to the Solana Resettlement Project (Phases 1 and 2) in Gadu, Solana, and the Metals Engineering and Innovation Center (MEIC) at the Cagayan State University (CSU) – Carig Campus, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Participants also visited the Callao Caves in Peñablanca, Cagayan.

The two-day SDC-NRCM was attended by more than 60 SDC national and regional officials from all regions across the country. NEDA2-PMEDNEDA2-PMED
