Japan delegates from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Japan Water Agency, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the NEDA2 set exploratory talks for the project proposal to extend the lifespan of Magat Dam on November 29, 2023.

The Japanese team provided an overview of the proposed Magat Dam project and solicited inputs and other additional information that will aid in the development of a feasibility study (FS). The proposed FS will identify measures to reduce the annual sedimentation volume of the Magat Dam reservoir, preserve its water storage capacity, extend its service life, and mitigate the risks of natural disasters and economic losses.

This is an offshoot of the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Council Resolution passed in July 2023. NEDA2-PDIPBD
