Officials and technical staff from NEDA Regional Offices in Luzon, NEDA Regional Development Staff (NEDA RDS) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) conducted a second workshop on July 18, 2024 in Alfonso, Cavite to update the Luzon Spatial Development Framework (LSDF) 2015-2045.

As a follow-through of the initial workshop conducted last May 21-22, 2024, this activity was undertaken to revisit and update the overall Luzon Spatial Development Framework, by taking into consideration the directions of the National Spatial Strategy and the various models or urban development growth options. Dr. Arturo Corpuz, a recognized urban-regional and environmental planner served as Resource Person, where he shared and provided guidance on the National Spatial Strategy.

The workshop proper was led by NEDA MIMAROPA Regional Director Agustin Mendoza. Operationalizing the National Spatial Strategy, and its spatial and policy recommendations, the workshop focused on the three core strategies on Urban Agglomeration, Connectivity and Vulnerability Reduction. Additionally, the draft vision, goals and objectives of the LSDF was also presented for critiquing and enhancement. The activity ended with a discussion on the necessary next steps to be taken, agreements and timelines.
