The NEDA2, represented by Ms. Mildred B. Maglaya, participated in the 19th Policy Consultation Forum of the Seoul Initiative Network for Green Growth (SINGG) with the theme “NDC 3.0: Accelerating Collaborative Efforts for Climate Action in Asia and the Pacific.โ The forum was held on October 28-31, 2024 in Seoul, South Korea. It was hosted by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the Korean Environment Corporation (K-eco), United Nation Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the pacific (UNESCAP), and the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP).
The forum served as a platform for sharing successful practices and common challenges faced by participating countries in implementing the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It also served as a venue to discuss ways on how to implement NDC 3.0 or third-generation national climate plans. This approach is aimed at providing countries with effective access to a wide range of resources for tackling NDC updates and implementation challenges to promote a collective regional response towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
During the forum, Ms. Maglaya had the opportunity to discuss with K-eco officials the implementation details of the NEDA2 project proposal which was selected and approved by K-eco under the 2025 SINGG project. The proposed project aims to enhance the capacity of Local Government Units in the Cagayan Valley Region to reduce their contribution to national greenhouse gas (GHG) emission.
On the last day, forum participants visited the Seosan Bio-energy Plant and Anyang Sewage Treatment Plant, model project sites for Koreaโs carbon neutrality implementation.
Over 60 individuals from approximately 35 countries participated in the Forum. The Philippines was also represented by Mr. Arnold Grant Belver of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) and Director Marissa P. Cerezo of the Department of Energy (DOE).
